The Penn State Football’s offense was wildly disappointing last year. The good news is a plethora of talent is returning

Penn State Football failed to live up to expectations last season.

That failure fell mainly on the offense. A top-10 defense was mostly wasted last season, as the offense struggled to consistently put up points.

James Franklin and new Offensive Coordinator Mike Yurcich shouldered the majority of the blame last season. Yurcich has a proven track record of calling high-scoring offenses. His reputation will be on the line this season.

The talent is there for the Nittany Lions to have the most explosive offense in the Big Ten. With another full offseason and the talent returning, the offense needs to be the best unit on this version of Penn State football.

Penn State Football will return a majority of their production last season. These five players will have to carry the offense and expectations in 2022.

Scouting Report. Penn State Nittany Lions. 5. player. 806. Pick Analysis. TE. Brenton Strange

Brenton Strange is the most balanced of the tight ends on the roster.

Strange led the tight ends in receptions and yards last season. As Yurcich tweaks the offense this offseason, the tight ends need to be more involved. Strange has the size and athletism of an elite tight end. He could be a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.

Strange does need to address an issue that all the tight ends had last season. DROPS. Brenton had several drops in critical situations. Once given the opportunity afforded by playcalling, Strange can be the next in a long line of great tight ends for Penn State.
