This year’s edition of the Minnesota Golden Gophers has put together quite a few top performances on the season. They have also given some of the premier teams in the country a run for their money.

The 4-5 record on the season doesn’t do Minnesota justice as they lost 22-10 against Iowa in Iowa City (never an easy feat), fell to Wisconsin 21-15, and dropped a heartbreaker to Michigan 20-14.

The Golden Gophers have beaten the teams they should beat and they’ve narrowly fallen to the teams more talented and deep than they are. It tends to help when you have the most dominant wrestler in the nation anchoring your lineup at heavyweight (Gable Steveson).

Oh, and there’s also the head-scratching 18-14 loss they had to Purdue last Sunday. I’m not exactly sure what happened there.

Moving on.

Next up for Minnesota should be a very exciting home dual against Ohio State this Friday (2/11) at 9:00 p.m.
