Penn State Wrestling’s Max Dean named Big Ten Wrestler of the Week

No. 1 Penn State Wrestlings Max Dean recognized as the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week following his outstanding performance last Friday against Iowa
The Big Ten just announced No. 1 Penn State Wrestling’s Max Dean was awarded the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week after he dismantled Jacob Warner on Friday night to clinch the dual meet win against Iowa.
The fate of the dual last Friday night in Iowa City was squarely in the hands of the last two wrestlers in the Nittany Lions‘ lineup, Max Dean and Greg Kerkvliet.
And with Penn State Wrestling clinging to a 16-10 lead, Dean took to the mat against the No. 4 ranked grappler at 197. Iowa’s Jacob Warner.
The match was never going to be an easy one with the amount of pressure bubbling over from the Carver-Hawkeye Arena crowd and the talent level of Dean’s opponent toeing the line opposite of him.
Dean handled the pressure with ease and he rose the challenge with a late rally in the third period to defeat Warner and give Penn State an insurmountable 19-10 lead.
Well, I think the Big Ten took notice of this.
The Nittany Lions host the Ohio State Buckeyes this Friday (2/4) at 7:00 p.m. in the Bryce Jordan Center where Max Dean will once again be facing a ranked grappler.
Might be the perfect opportunity for Dean to defend his crown.
