Penn State Football quarterback – Beau Pribula

Beau Pribula does not get the credit he deserves since he is overshadowed in the 2022 recruiting class by the highly touted Drew Allar.

While Allar may currently have the edge on Pribula in terms of physical abilities and measurables, Pribula does a lot of things well and possesses a lot of the intangibles you look for in a college quarterback, even drawing comparisons to Trace McSorley (although Pribula is 2 inches taller).

If Pribula doesn’t want to get lost in the shuffle, he is going to have to compete with Allar and prove himself right from the get-go, and this spring would be a fascinating time to be a fly on the wall in the Lasch Football Complex to watch the two freshman quarterbacks competing.

Things such as learning the playbook faster than Allar, or having better consistency, poise, or decision making, can all give Pribula the chance to truly compete with Allar for playing time, both this year and down the road.

The Central York product is an accurate passer, but he does not have the strongest arm in the world. Getting into a collegiate weight room early could allow him to build up his lower body and core strength to potentially add some velocity and distance to his passes.

Two-quarterback classes aren’t always the easiest to navigate, so Pribula and Allar will bring out the best in each other, as neither of them wants to fall behind the other.

These next six months might ultimately decide if Pribula will fall behind the rest of the quarterbacks or not, so this time is crucial for him to develop and chase down the other quarterbacks in the room and prove that he belongs.
