Transfer portal on fire, but is James Franklin asleep at the wheel?
Kyren Lacy – Wide Receiver
Committed to LSU
Lacy is another really good player the Nittany Lions lost to LSU after AGAIN being late to the party with an offer, as he already had LSU as a heavy favorite by the time Franklin offered him.
It is entirely possible that as a Louisiana native he was going to wind up with LSU regardless, but that does not excuse another example of Franklin being behind the eight ball.
At the University of Louisiana, Lacy caught 50 passes for ten touchdowns over the past two seasons, impressive numbers in an offense that is very run-heavy and only really passes out of necessity.
At six-foot-three and 212 pounds, he is a big-bodied, athletic wide receiver who could have completed the wide receivers corps after the addition of Mitchell Tinsley.
The Nittany Lions lacked a big body wide receiver these past few seasons, really since Chris Godwin in 2016, and he could have been just that in this offense.
Lacy will have three years of eligibility as well, meaning if Tinsley and Parker Washington bolt for the NFL after this upcoming season, he would have been around in 2023 to spearhead this offense which will likely be handed over to top quarterback prospect Drew Allar by that time.
Lacy is probably the least of the needed guys on this list but was the latest in Penn State Football missing out on talent because they were late to the game.
