Perhaps this will mean Seth Lundy, the Nittany Lions’ leading scorer will be able to play after missing last Sunday’s game at Columbus.

The Nittany Lions (8-7, 3-4) are in a tie for 8th in the conference and are led by Lundy’s 14.1 points per game and Harrar, who is just missing averaging a double-double with 10.8 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.  Sam Sessoms leads the team in three-point shooting (46.3% clip).

The Iowa Hawkeyes (13-5, 3-4) are ironically the team the Nittany Lions are tied with at 8th in the conference and they sport a 10-1 home record. Iowa leading scorer Keegan Murray is averaging 23.3 points, and 8.4 rebounds per game, shooting almost 60 percent from the floor and is averaging over two blocks a game.

Murray will be another tough match-up down low for Harrar and White/Lee.

Iowa had two other double-digit scorers (Patrick McCaffrey and Jordan Bohannon), and along with another familiar name, Joe Toussaint, the Iowa team has plenty of recognizable players.

Iowa likes to play up-tempo, averaging over 80 points per game.  That’s, well, completely opposite of Penn State’s ‘muck it up offense’ so we will see a battle of preferred tempos.

If this game gets into the 70s, Penn State Basketball will struggle to keep up.  So, look for more long possessions likely with some ‘classic’ end-of-shot clock fadeaway heaves.

Caleb Dorsey still has not played since Penn State’s return from their Covid-19 induced break but no word if it’s a health issue or not.

aheam Cornwall, who was a starter for 5 straight games, hasn’t played in the last two.  No questions have been asked to Shrewsberry about this.

Iowa has no injuries to report at this time.

ESPN’s BPI gives Penn State Basketball just a 9.4% chance of winning.

Penn State certainly hasn’t had much success in Iowa, but they are tied in the standings as we speak. Both teams are coming off a loss preceded by a win (Iowa lost at Rutgers and won at Minnesota, Penn State lost at Ohio State and won vs. Rutgers).

With six days off, this game could go in a variety of directions.

Odds are Iowa can’t shoot as poorly as they did at Rutgers, but teams seem not to shoot well versus us. VBR will predict a pretty similar game to OSU…we hang around, don’t let Iowa make the knock-out punch but never truly threaten to win.
