How Penn State Football can replace Noah Cain, after running back transfers to LSU
By Nick Kreiser
Caziah Holmes
Caziah Holmes only saw five carries all season, but like Devyn Ford, probably should have been given slightly more of an opportunity, as he was solid as a true freshman in 2020 when he was thrown into the fire due to injuries.
In the final game of the 2020 season, he rushed for 77 yards on 12 carries (6.4 yards per carry) and added two touchdowns in that game. Not jaw-dropping considering it was against Illinois, but still a good performance, nevertheless.
Holmes is not yet a complete back, as he is not the most physical runner, but he does have very good top-end speed. He could be a valuable weapon if he is able to get the ball in his hands out on the edge and in space.
Unfortunately for Holmes, he is likely to get buried on depth chart once again in 2022. Hopefully, he does get a bit more of an opportunity in certain late-game situations when the score isn’t very close, than he did in 2021.
Barring an injury or some severe underperformance by some of the names in front of him, Holmes might be lucky if he sees more than a couple dozen touches in 2022.
