3. Drew Allar not yet a Finished Product

While the arm talent and athleticism are certainly there for Allar, he also showed some areas that need a little work.

Accuracy was an issue at times during the game.

Now, the offensive line was not great, and Allar was forced to leave the pocket numerous times, which led to rushed throws or throwaways. There were also issues with miscommunication with receivers either not running the right route or stopping a route when they should have continued. As noted, these teams only practiced together for four days, so this was to be expected.

While these factors did play a role, there were also throws in which Allar either left it short or put too much on it. This is to be expected, he’s still learning the quarterback position and will get more comfortable with these throws as time goes on.

Working with Penn State Football offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich and learning from Sean Clifford will help Allar. The fact that he is enrolling early and starts classes at Penn State on Monday is a big advantage.
