Micah Parsons was placed on the COVID-19/reserve list by the Dallas Cowboys on Wednesday, ahead of the regular-season finale against the Eagles

The Dallas Cowboys have placed star rookie Micah Parsons on the COVID-19 reserve list, the team announced Wednesday.

Parsons, the Cowboys’ first-round pick out of Penn State Football, is in the midst of a legitimate run at Defensive Player of The Year, during a standout rookie campaign.

As Dallas’ regular-season finale on Saturday night approaches against the Philadelphia Eagles, Parsons has already produced 13 sacks, three forced fumbles, along with 84 tackles, including 20 tackles for loss.

Parsons’ versatility, lining up at both inside linebacker and as an edge rusher, has been key to the Cowboys’ resurgence on defense this season, which could make him the overwhelming favorite to win Defensive Rookie of The Year, at minimum.

“I take complete pride in being the most versatile player in the NFL,” Parsons said recently, via the Cowboys’ official team site.

Because the Cowboys play on Saturday night, and Parsons was added to the protocols just three days before the game, it is unclear whether he will be eligible to come off the COVID-19-reserve list in time for kickoff in Philadelphia.

The Cowboys have already secured the 2021 NFC East Division championship.
