Penn State Football linebacker – Keon Wylie

Keon Wylie is not the most impressive recruit from a ratings perspective, as he is only a 3-star, but James Franklin said that he could potentially be the best defensive player in this class.

This shows that, while he will certainly be a bit of a project for Manny Diaz, he has all the potential in the world to be a difference maker down the road.

So how does this mean that he will have an impact in 2022?

Well, as was mentioned earlier, linebacker is an extremely thin unit in terms of depth, so even though he won’t start, Wylie will push Tyler Elsdon, Kobe King, and fellow freshman linebacker Abdul Carter, as he could compete to potentially crack the two-deep at linebacker.

It would be a surprise to see Wylie appear in more than four games in 2022, as he will most likely redshirt. But he has a very high ceiling and will provide depth and competition in a linebacker room that is a work in progress.
