Penn State Football was aggressive in the transfer portal last season and Wednesday James Franklin gave some insight into how they might use it this offseason

The transfer portal can not be ignored in today’s college football and it seems yet again Penn State Football head coach James Franklin will be active in the transfer market.

On Wednesday, however, Franklin gave us some insight into areas of need Penn State Football may attack this offseason.

Franklin told the media Wednesday the Nittany Lions will focus on the offensive line, wide receiver, and defensive front seven in the portal.

When asked directly about quarterback, Franklin said very clearly Penn State will not look for a quarterback due to Sean Clifford returning and what they have coming in with Drew Allar and Beau Pribula.

Offensive line seems to be the obvious need after that group struggled last season. We know Penn State Football has extended offers to Miles Frazier out of FIU who is the top-rated offensive tackle in the portal by 247sports. The Lions also offered Cornell linemen Hunter Nourzad as well.

On the defensive side, linebacker and defensive end will likely be needed as Penn State expects to lose Jesse Luketa, Ellis Brooks, Arnold Ebiketie, and potentially Brandon Smith as well. Franklin and Penn State offered linebacker Jacob Windmon from UNLV, but he landed with Michigan State, who is transfer portal U of late.

Expect Franklin and Penn State Football to be aggressive yet again this offseason in the transfer portal, and look for those positions specifically to be the target.
