Chris Godwin reached a season-milestone, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards for the second time in his career for the Buccaneers Sunday

Chris Godwin is in the midst of one of the strongest seasons of his career, and surpassed 1,000 yards in a season for the second time Sunday afternoon against the Buffalo Bills.

In the second quarter of Sunday’s game, Godwin hauled in a 23-yard reception from Tom Brady, which upped his season total to 1,020 after just 12-plus games.

So far this season, Godwin has already caught 87 passes for 1,020 yards and five touchdowns.

Because this is the first NFL season to feature 17 games, Godwin has a real chance to surpass his career-high 86 receptions for 1,333 yards and nine touchdowns. Especially as he has emerged as one of quarterback Tom Brady’s favorite targets.

Godwin has been able to stand out despite playing in an offense that features the likes of All-Pros Mike Evans and tight end Rob Gronkowski, while developing a reputation as one of the league’s most consistently dominant slot receivers.

The timing of Godwin’s breakout campaign couldn’t be better for the former second-round pick out of Penn State Football. The 25-year-old Godwin is playing this season under the franchise tag for the Buccaneers and could be poised to become one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL this offseason.

With 4:43 remaining, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lead the Buffalo Bills 17-3.
