Will ankle injury limit Eagles RB Miles Sanders vs. Jets?
Former Penn State Football running back Miles Sanders suffered an ankle injury late in last Sunday’s victory over the New York Giants
Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders has battled through myriad injuries this season, most recently slowed by an ankle injury suffered during the latter stages of Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants.
Sanders, chosen in the second-round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Penn State, faces a favorable matchup Sunday afternoon against the New York Jets, but could be limited once again.
"“I really just tweaked it a little again,” Sanders told reporters Thursday. “I had an ankle injury that had me out for three weeks. I made a play, and I hurt it on that play. I tried to go back in later in the game, and it just wasn’t right. I couldn’t keep it solid, but I feel good. I’m just trying to keep getting better every day, trying to get ready for Sunday.”"
Despite the Eagles committing to the running game on offense, this has been a somewhat disappointing campaign for Sanders.
Through his first nine games of the 2021 campaign, Sanders has rushed for 458 yards but is still looking for his first touchdown of the season.
The Jets enter Sunday’s game allowing a whopping 128.7 yards rushing per game. The combination of the Eagles’ commitment to the ground game, and the Jets’ porous rushing defense could set the stage for Sanders to break out.
If he’s healthy enough to capitalize.
The Eagles and Jets kickoff at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
