Penn State Football commits Drew Allar and Nick Singleton continue to rise up the rankings as the early national signing day rapidly approaches

Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but 2022 Penn State football commits Drew Allar and Nick Singleton ascended the recruiting rankings again on Wednesday afternoon.

247 Sports updated their rankings, now that the majority of high schools are done playing for the season. In this most recent update, Allar remained the No.1 quarterback in the nation, but he moved up to the No. 3 recruit in the entire country.

When Allar signs with Penn State in two weeks, he will be the highest rated player in 247 Sports rankings to sign with Penn State. Derrick Williams was No. 4 overall back in 2005, while Micah Parsons was the No. 5 player in his class in 2018. Allar’s composite ranking is lower than both Williams and Parsons due to a lower ranking from other recruiting services.

Singleton remained the No.1 running back in the country, but he also moved up some spots, now slotted at No. 20 in the national rankings. Miles Sanders is the highest rated running back to sign with Penn State. He was also the No. 1 running back, but in 247 Sports rankings, Sanders was 39th in the national rankings.

The Nittany Lions have never signed a 5-star quarterback and a 5-star running back in the same class before, they are on pace to change that in two weeks. With Quinn Ewers reclassifying to 2021, Ohio State signed the No.1 quarterback and the No. 1 running back in Treveyon Henderson last cycle. A year later, the Nittany Lions match the Buckeyes, something they have not be able to do consistently in recruiting. The two programs are set for some high-powered offensive matchups in the years to come.

Penn State’s 2022 class currently ranks fifth nationally with 25 commits in the fold. The Nittany Lions are hoping that coaching changes at Oklahoma and Notre Dame will help them add to the class before the cycle ends.
