Penn State Football quarterback(s) – Sean Clifford/Christian Veilleux

After last week, many thought that Christian Veilleux would get the opportunity to start this weekend against the Spartans, but that might not be the case.

James Franklin said that Sean Clifford was back taking first team reps this week, with Veilleux getting the second team reps.

Assuming Clifford does inevitably get the start, he will play a big role for this offense, as they have the opportunity for a big game through the air. His play has been sporadic all year, but at his best, Clifford has done some great things.

If his accuracy is on point against the Spartans’ secondary, Mike Yurcich’s offense can put up a lot of points this week.

It is hard to believe, however, that the fifth-year quarterback will be 100% healthy, so the possibility exists that he would not be able to finish the game if he takes a few bad hits.

If that happens, Christian Veilleux needs to replicate his performance from a week ago and help lead the offense, remaining calm in the pocket, finding the open target, and making the easy throws.
