Penn State Football head coach James Franklin has signed an extension through the 2031 season.

This 10 year deal includes $70 million guaranteed to Franklin, plus incentives,

After season-long speculation as to whether or not  James Franklin would wind up at places such as USC or LSU, it turns out that he will remain in State College after all, as the head coach of Penn State Football for the foreseeable future.

Surely a majority of the fanbase is more than delighted to hear this news.

Franklin said that he was approached by the university early in the season by about “making a long-term investment in the program.”

Academic support, community outreach, facility improvements, player housing, and technology upgrades were among many of the fine details of the contract.

Previously signed through the 2025 season, James Franklin is set to coach his 100th game at Penn State this weekend as the Nittany Lions take on Michigan State in East Lansing.

“We will continue our collective efforts to constantly improve all aspects of our program” said athletic director Sandy Barbour.

Like it or not, it is good to have an answer and to put an end to yearly rumors that Franklin might wind up elsewhere, which surely is an unwanted distraction.

The university has bought in to the Penn State Football program, and James Franklin is here to stay.
