Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR, and former Penn State Football standout, Chris Godwin made a strong early impact against the NY Giants Monday night

Chris Godwin has long been one of Tom Brady’s favorite targets, and he made an instant impact on Monday night against the NY Giants.

With 11:04 remaining in the first quarter, Brady hit Godwin on a rocket screen, before the wide receiver behind solid downfield blocking sliced his way through the NY Giants’ secondary for a 13-yard touchdown.

Following his touchdown reception, Godwin now has 59 catches for 728 yards and five touchdowns.

Entering Monday night, Godwin had just four drops in 73 targets. Godwin’s reliable hands and playmaking ability after the catch, have helped Brady produce a 114.4 passer rating when targeting him.

In addition to utilizing Godwin through the air, early on Monday night Tampa Bay made a concerted effort to get the ball in Godwins hands, including handing it off on an end-around that went for seven yards.

Already with a Super Bowl ring on his finger, Godwin is aiming for a second as one of the most vital offensive weapons on the Buccaneers’ roster, and he certainly has earned Brady’s trust. Especially through the first half of this season.

Godwin was chosen by the Buccaneers in the third-round of the 2017 NFL Draft, out of Penn State, and has 303 receptions for 4,278 yards and 29 touchdowns.
