Penn State Football vs Maryland: Key players for Nittany Lions to snap 3 game skid
By Nick Kreiser
Penn State Football tight end – Theo Johnson
Going into the Ohio State matchup, Theo Johnson only had six catches for just over 100 yards and a touchdown on the season, and he nearly matched his season reception total with 4 catches in Columbus.
Johnson also had this incredible block against the Buckeyes;
This might be a sign of things to come, getting the young tight end more involved down the stretch.
Johnson was a highly rated prospect in the 2020 recruiting class and he has a lot of upside.
Though he will still split time with Brenton Strange, as well as be on the field at the same time as him at certain points, at 6-foot-6, Johnson is a much bigger pass-catching target that Clifford might start to look towards more often.
With the wide receivers commanding so much attention from the defense, Johnson could play a huge role for the Nittany Lions’ passing game against Maryland, especially in the red zone.
Maybe the second-year tight end from Canada gets his second touchdown of the year this weekend against the Terrapins.
