Golden Gophers . 7. team. 852. . .

Dual Rank: 17
Record Last Season: 7-2
Ranked Wrestlers: 4
125 No. 5 Patrick McKee
157 No. 5 Brayton Lee
165 No. 23 Andrew Sparks
285 No. 1 Gable Steveson

The 2021-2022 Golden Gophers squad only sports four ranked grapplers to start the season, however, they do have several wrestlers who are just on the outside looking in when it comes to a top 25 ranking.

Marcos Polanco (141), Michael Blockhus (149), and Jared Krattiger (174) could easily move into a top 25 ranking with some good showings early on. Either way, the main point I’m making is that Minnesota does have a pretty solid team from top to bottom.

Oh, and they also have the best heavyweight wrestler on the planet. Gable Steveson proved this in the recent Olympics and he will prove it once again on the collegiate level this season. No one is beating Steveson unless he lets you do it.

The Golden Gophers are set to take part in the 2021 Bison Open in Fargo North Dakota to kick off their season.
