Penn State Football can play spoiler

All of Penn State Football’s remaining regular-season opponents have something to play for, and the Nittany Lions can take part in ruining it for divisional rivals.

Their next opponent, Maryland, is currently one win away from bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016. Penn State Football can avenge its loss from last year as well as play spoiler/delay the Terrapins’ bowl clinching win.

They then return home to take on the Michigan Wolverines, who just suffered their first loss of the season. The Wolverines still have a good chance to win the division, and potentially reach the Playoff if they win out. Although, a loss to the Nittany Lions in two weeks would put a quick end to those discussions.

Penn State then hosts Rutgers, who needs to go 2-2 in their final four games to reach a bowl game for the first time since 2014. Reaching a bowl game would be a big step in the right direction for a program like Rutgers, and the Nittany Lions can spoil that for them, which would consequentially also be a boon on the recruiting trail against Greg Schiano.

In the final week of the regular season, the Nittany Lions have a chance to compete for the most coveted trophy in the sport, the beautiful Land-Grant Trophy. Plus, the Lions have a chance to knock off the currently undefeated Michigan State Spartans in the matchup and help ruin their chances at a conference championship and a playoff appearance.

The more success that other teams in the division/conference have, the better recruits they will attract, making it tougher to beat them in the future. So Penn State needs to beat those remaining teams on their schedule.
