Micah Parsons’ strong rookie season continues, as the former Penn State Football standout has been named NFC Defensive Player of The Week

The accolades for former Penn State Football All-American Micah Parsons continue to roll in.

Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker was named NFC Defensive Player of The Week, following arguably the strongest performance of his rookie campaign.

Sunday night against the Minnesota Vikings, Parsons produced a career-high 11 tackles, and two tackles for loss in the Cowboys’ 20-16 win.

"“I thought it was his best game purely as a football player,” Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Monday. “Clearly, it was his best week of preparation. …He had a huge night. He was all over the field. I thought he clearly played his best game as a Cowboy.”"

Through the first seven games of his career, Parsons is making a strong case for NFC Defensive Rookie of The Year.

According to Pro Football Focus, Pasons has produced an 89.9 pass-rush grade, while splitting time between defensive end and inside linebacker, adding to his disruptiveness because quarterbacks are unable to key in on him on a given snap.

Parsons has already logged 42 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss, and he’s broken up two passes.
