Carter Starocci’s bold prediction for 2021-2022 season

For whatever weird reason, I feel like there’s a lot of pressure here. And no, not on Carter Starocci to perform, but for me to come up with a bold prediction for him.

This is saying a lot, considering I’m just sitting at a computer typing this up while double-fisting a ham sandwich and chips.

I’m not the one putting countless hours in at the Lorenzo Wrestling Complex, or working out, or studying, or going to class.

How do you slap a bold prediction on a supremely talented athlete who improves each time you see them? And one who has already hoisted the individual title?

Well, here goes.

My bold prediction for the 2021-2022 season.

Carter Starocci will win both the B1G title and defend his NCAA title, but he will lose a handful of matches throughout the season

The B1G currently has seven wrestlers ranked in the top 10 at 174.

As I mentioned before, Starocci is going to have early-season matchups against No. 19 Trey Munoz (Oregon State), No. 14 Ben Pasiuk (Army), and No. 24 Jake Logan (Lehigh).

A normal wrestling season is long and it can test even the best in terms of the physical and mental strain it inflicts.

But, there are many things to gain when you lose.

And Carter Starocci has already proven he can learn and he has already proven he can get better.

In the end, win or lose, the Penn State Wrestling faithful will be there to cheer you and the rest of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Team on.

But Starocci is a champion and something tells me he’s not finished adding to his legacy just yet.
