Reason to Worry – Penn State Football’s Quarterback Situation

There is a lot to unpack here, as Sean Clifford has been practicing this week, although it is still not clear if he will play against Illinois.

If he does play, Penn State Football fans will certainly hold their breathe every time #14 has the ball in his hands.

From a scoreboard standpoint, there is almost no concern at the quarterback position with Clifford in there.

There is also a good chance that Clifford would be pulled from the game earlier than he normally would to prevent further injury. If that is the case, there is some concern that the backups might not play well and will allow Illinois to hang around longer than they should.

Also, since the backups have been splitting reps this week with Clifford, as opposed to getting a majority of the reps, they may be less prepared whether they replace Clifford or one of them starts the game.

The possibilities are endless at the quarterback position this weekend, although the Nittany Lions should be able to win regardless of what happens with the quarterbacks.
