Penn State Football is idle this week, and the bye could not come again a better time, both directly at the midway point of the season and giving the team a chance to regroup and get healthy

Despite dropping their last game to Iowa 23-20, in a game in which they looked to be in control until quarterback Sean Clifford went down, the Nittany Lions are 5-1, ranked No. 7 in the nation, and still have everything to play for this season.

A tough schedule remains with trips to Columbus and East Lansing, and a visit from the Wolverines as well should make for a wild October and November.

At the halfway point there has been a lot to like from this Penn State Football team, so let’s hand out a report card to each position group:

Penn State Football Quarterbacks

Grade: B+

Up until the second quarter of the Iowa game, this grade would have been solely for Sean Clifford and would have been an A. But, the lack of depth we saw behind Clifford on Saturday is concerning.

Ta’Quan Roberson is in his third season with Penn State Football, but look overwhelmed last Saturday taking his first meaningful snaps. With the health of Clifford uncertain, Roberson must get ready to play at least Illinois next week.

Clifford has been phenomenal in this Mike Yurcich offense thus far throwing for 1,482 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing a career high 66.3% of his passes.
