Prior to the start of the season, I wrote about five bold predictions that I had for Penn State Football this year.

Many of these Penn State Football preseason bold predictions still have a good chance of coming into fruition, though it will be close with a lot of them.

Along with checking up on those five predictions at the midway point of the regular season, lets also have some more fun and throw in five more bold prediction for the second half of the regular season for the Nittany Lions.

Here’s where our Penn State Football preseason bold predictions stand:

Preseason Prediction – Penn State Football has 2 Running Backs Eclipse 500 Yards

Heading into the season, this prediction seemed to be the least bold of them all. Now, it seems a little far-fetched that this could happen, based on how the running game has looked up to this point.

Mathematically, this is still very possible. Through six games, Penn State Football’s two leading rushers are Keyvone Lee with 204 yards, and Noah Cain with 202 yards.

The Nittany Lions have at least 7 games remaining, being that they only need one more win to reach a bowl game. Although it will be tough, I do believe that both of these backs can reach the 500 yard mark this season (assuming they stay healthy).

Two of Penn State Football’s remaining opponents (Illinois and Rutgers) are two of the three worst teams in the Big Ten in terms of rushing yards allowed per carry, at 4.4 and 4.3 yards per carry respectively. They have already faced the two best teams in terms of the same stat (Iowa and Wisconsin), and they still have a chance to have 2 backs reach the 500 yard mark.

There’s still reason to be optimistic the running game can improve, even if it is just a little. For those reasons, I am sticking to my preseason prediction that Penn State Football will have two running backs reach 500 total rushing yards on the season.
