Wisconsin finally got on the board with a conference win this past Saturday with that dominating 24-0 win over Illinois.

As noted, the running game was awesome, picking up 391 yards and the defense did their thing, shutting out the Illini and holding them to less than 100 yards of offense.

This really was a feel-good win for a team that badly needed to see some things go right for them. If there was one thing to gripe about, it was that quarterback Graham Mertz still wasn’t great. He went 10-19 passing for 100 yards and an interception.

Yes, he’s not asked to do much in a game like this, but you still want to see him take steps forward, something he hasn’t done this year.

Wisconsin actually has Army on deck this week. That won’t be a pushover game at all.
