Big Ten Power Rankings for Week 7: Michigan, OSU Rise
Iowa won that mega matchup with Penn State 23-20 on Saturday.
While they looked to be on the ropes early, down 17-3, they regrouped and adjusted to pull out the win. Did they get some help from Penn State’s injury bug? Yes, but it’s part of the game.
Spencer Petras made a clutch throw in the fourth quarter to give Iowa the lead for good. He rolled out to the right, but came back across the field to hit Nico Ragaini wide open for the 44-yard score.
The Iowa defense looked beatable for the first time this season as Penn State had 17 points and over 200 yards of offense before Clifford’s injury. At the end of the day though, they returned to way they have been playing all year and intercepted Penn State quarterbacks four times and held the Nittany Lions to just three points in the second half.
Iowa is now the No. 2 team in the country and has Purdue up next, 7-0 is looking likely for the Hawkeyes.
