Two of Penn State Football’s top recruits in the 2022 class, Drew Allar and Kaytron Allen garnered national recognition this weekend

Penn State’s 2022 recruiting class is no longer ranked first nationally, thanks to Nick Saban and Alabama, but this class continues to attract  national attention.

On Thursday, MaxPreps released their watch list for the national player of the year, and two future Nittany Lions made the list.

Quarterback commit Drew Allar out of Medina High School in Ohio and running back commit Kaytron Allen from IMG Academy were recognized for their outstanding play this season by being  two of the 15 players on the watch list.

Allar, a 4-star, is considered the jewel of Penn State’s class as he is on pace to be the highest rated quarterback to sign with James Franklin at Penn State. So far this season, Allar has gone 186-282 for 2,623 yards with 26 touchdowns to only three interceptions. He has also been effective as a runner this year as well.

As for Allen, he’s currently enjoying a  three week break as IMG has not played since Sept. 25 and will not resume play until Oct. 15. According to the MaxPreps article, the 4-star, who is originally from Virginia, has gained over 1,000 yards on the ground with 16 touchdowns so far this season.

With talents like Allar and Allen in the fold, Penn State’s 2022 class has the makings of a dynamic offense down the road. Joining these two is one of the most dominating running backs in the country in Nick Singleton along with one of fastest groups of receivers accumulated in a 2022 class, which includes Kaden Saunders, Anthony Ivey, Tyler Johnson and Omari Evans. That’s not all as quarterback Beau Pribula is also apart of the class. He is a dynamic athlete who beats teams with his arm and legs. There’s also 4-star tight end Jerry Cross and 4-star Drew Shelton highlights a promising offensive line haul.

Being considered one of the best 15 high school football players currently in the country is no small feat and Penn State is the only school with two commits on the list.
