Penn State football: 5 reasons the Nittany Lions make it to the College Football Playoff

The Big Ten East is loaded

Looking around the college football landscape, the Penn State Nittany Lions play in one of the more dominant conferences in the country.

The Big Ten East is loaded this season, as Michigan and Michigan State are both undefeated, and nobody is counting Ohio State out after a tough loss to Oregon early in the season.

Penn State Football will have to run through this gauntlet of teams if they hope to come out on top of the East, and will have to do so on the road against Iowa, Michigan State, and Ohio State. While they get Michigan inside Beaver Stadium, that is an incredibly tough schedule, one that can match up against any of the other CFP contenders in the country.

Not to mention that Iowa is the class of the Big Ten West, and the No. 5 team in the country going into the matchup against Penn State football this weekend. If the Nittany Lions win on Saturday and can win the Big Ten East, it is going to be very hard to keep them out of the CFP, even if they lose in the Big Ten title game.
