Big Ten power rankings entering Week 6: Iowa and Penn State ready to face off
Rutgers idea of upsetting Ohio State came to an end quick, as they trailed 24-0 less than 13 minutes into the game.
The final was not any better as Rutgers fell 52-13 to the Buckeyes.
There wasn’t a lot of good in this game for the Scarlet Knights. Quarterback Noah Vedral threw three interceptions and the team’s leading rusher had 39 yards. The defense wasn’t much better as they allowed 541 yards of offense and Ohio State went 8-13 on third down.
This game was a little more lopsided than many thought it would be. No one really expected Rutgers to win, but there was belief that they would show more signs of improvement, like they did last week against Michigan, but that didn’t happen.
The talent gap between Rutgers and the Big Ten’s best is still significant and will not change over night. Considering they already have three wins, they will threaten for a bowl game, but may come up a game short. Unless they upset Michigan State this week, expect Rutgers to start to take a slide in these rankings.
