Jerry Jones compares Micah Parsons to Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin
Micah Parsons hasn’t wasted any time making an impact on the Dallas Cowboys’ defense, or impressing Jerry Jones
The Dallas Cowboys are absolutely thrilled by Micah Parsons’ start to his NFL career.
Parsons, chosen by the Cowboys with the No. 12 overall pick in this spring’s NFL Draft, has already emerged as one of the NFL’s more dominant defenders. Through the first four weeks of the season, Parsons has already produced three sacks, 17 pressures, garnered a 90.1 pass-rush grade from Pro Football Focus, and impressed owner Jerry Jones in the process.
"“He’s got that Michael Irvin intensity,” Jones said, via Sports Illustrated. “He has that Randy White, and I wasn’t around Randy a lot in his playing, but boy, he’s legendary, and the stories of how he approached it and just how business he was about it … “"
The former Penn State Football standout has wasted little time making a legitimate impact on a Dallas Cowboys defense, that thus far ranks 16th in the league in scoring, allowing 24.2 points per game.
Despite becoming a first-team All-American at Penn State, after just two seasons, the Cowboys moved Parsons back to his natural position at defensive end in Week 2, and the results have been staggering.
Since moving to end, Parsons has produced all 3.5 of his sacks, and made 10 total tackles.
Parsons’ next opportunity to make a major impact comes Sunday afternoon, when the NFC East leading Dallas Cowboys host the NY Giants at 4:25 p.m.
