The potential quarterback of Penn State Fooball’s future, Drew Allar, put on a show in front of a national audience last weekend

Penn State football’s high-profile quarterback commit Drew Allar received some national attention on Friday night when his Medina Battling Bees took on Mentor high school in one of the biggest matchups in Ohio football of the season.

Before getting to Allar, let’s look at another notable performances from Penn State commits from this past weekend.

Omari Evans was not a Penn State commit at the time of his monster performance on Friday night. The Texas speedster plays quarterback for his high school and had quite the day. Evans ran the ball 17 times for 245 yards and four touchdowns, while going 9-11 passing for 100 yards and a score. He committed to Penn State the next day, not a bad weekend for the 3-star wide receiver.

As for Allar, his road game against Mentor High School was aired on ESPN2, giving Penn State Football fans their first real glimpse at the 4-star quarterback.

Allar did not disappoint for them, as he went 23-37 passing for 308 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. He added a rushing score as well.

Allar was named the player of the game by the ESPN crew and was the topic of conversation throughout the entire broadcast. From watching the game, you could see that Allar does deal with some drops from receivers that cause his completion percentage to dip a little, but that is expected in high school.

He consistently showed the ability to move around the pocket and make throws on the move when necessary. Allar also stands tall in the pocket when given time and delivers darts down the field. Penn State has not had a quarterback recruit with this kind of arm talent in a long time.

This had to be a pretty good weekend for Allar. His high school team wins big on national television and then on Saturday, he picks up a future deep-threat target and watched Penn State improve to 5-0.

Trending. Penn State's white out win already paying recruiting dividends. light
