Penn State Football’s defense is Still Great

Say what you want about Indiana not being that great of a team, but shutting out a Power 5 football team is impressive.

Hoosiers wide receiver Ty Fryfogle won Big Ten receiver of the year last season, and this Penn State Football defense held him to just five catches for 48 yards. Plus, Peyton Hendershot is one of the best tight ends in the conference, and the Nittany Lions did not allow him to beat them. He finished with five catches for 88 yards.

Tariq Castro-Fields and Daequan Hardy both played well, accumulating two pass deflections apiece.

Joey Porter Jr and Ji’Ayir Brown both hauled in interception for the Nittany Lions, and former Penn State Football running back Mark Allen had some lofty praise for Porter.

Coming into the game, stopping the run was the weakness of the defense, compared to stopping the pass. The Nittany Lions held the Hoosiers to just 69 rushing yards as a team.

Ellis Brooks had a good game, leading the defense with eight total tackles, and PJ Mustipher added six tackles, including a tackle for loss, from his defensive tackle position.

This defense is playing great, and they look good enough to beat any offense on their schedule.
