Penn State Football comfortably beat Villanova by a score of 38-17 on Saturday, what are some numbers that define why the Nittany Lions were successful, as well as why the Wildcats were able to hang around for awhile.

Penn State Football moved to a perfect 4-0 start, and climbed to No. 4 in the latest AP poll rankings, by easing past the Villanova Wildcats Saturday afternoon at Beaver Stadium.

While the Wildcats climbed back into the contest late, long after the Nittany Lions‘ starters had departed for the afternoon, explosive plays continued to be a hallmark for Penn State Football.

Here’s a look at some key stats that defined Penn State Football’s win over Villanova:

Penn State Football’s Passing Yards and Passing Touchdowns

Sean Clifford had a career day against Villanova, throwing for 401 yards and four touchdowns against the Wildcats. Backup quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson added 28 passing yards.

Of those 429 total yards through the air, 353 of them went to the Nittany Lions’ top three wide receivers. The trio accomplished that 14 combined catches with four combined touchdowns, including the KeAndre Lambert-Smith’s first career touchdown catch.

Finally, three of those four touchdowns were on plays of more than 50 yards.
