Penn State Football got a big win on Saturday night with a 28-20 victory over Auburn.

The whiteout scene at Beaver Stadium grabbed the attention of the nation, as did the play of quarterback Sean Clifford. Clifford went 28-32 for 280 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.

The Penn State Football passing attack was impressive, with offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich adding numerous wrinkles to the offense, which kept Auburn on their toes, and often tricked the Tigers.

The defense bended, but like the Wisconsin game, did  not break, with multiple stands late in the game against the Auburn offense.  The pass rush still leaves something to be desired, as the Nittany Lions were unable to sack Auburn quarterback Bo Nix once.

The run defense also needs some improvement, as Penn State gave up 182 rushing yards and both Auburn touchdowns were on the ground. In their defense, Auburn is one of the best rushing teams in the country, but with games against Iowa, Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State to come, it does need improvement.

Penn State Football is still trying to get the run game going, something we haven’t really said about the Nittany Lions in years past. A solid run game will only make Clifford and this air attack even more dangerous.

Two wins against ranked teams to start the year is impressive though.

Penn State has a nice tune up game against Villanova this week. They’ll try to address those minor issues then.
