Penn State Football Safety – Jonathan Sutherland

For not being in a starting role, Jonathan Sutherland has played great. He has 14 total tackles, nine of them being solo tackles, so far through three games.

Sutherland is a sure tackler, and has been very good in run support for this Penn State Football team. He did a great job of filling in for Jaquan Brisker while he was out for portions of the game against Wisconsin.

The second-year captain also recorded a tackle for loss against Ball State, a game in which he played a lot of snaps, so that Brisker could rest.

Finally, Sutherland has shown his experience and knowledge of the game, by being versatile and moving up to play linebacker in certain situations. His ability to do that is important for a variety of reasons, the main one being the lack of depth and experience this team has at linebacker.
