There are plenty of people who have shined to help lead Penn State Football get off to a hot start, but there are also some unsung heroes that deserve a ton of praise as well.

From a guy who does it all on special teams and the longest tenured coach on James Franklin’s staff, to a rising star at wide receiver, and even a second year team captain, there are plenty of guys who have played significant roles in the Nittany Lions‘ 3-0 start.

Make no mistake, quarterback Sean Clifford, wide receiver Jahan Dotson, and safety Jaquan Brisker have proven instrumental in Penn State Football rising to No. 6 in the latest Associated Press poll, but they aren’t the only stars powering the Lins’ early-season success.

Officially one quarter of the way through the regular season, here are some of the unsung heroes so far for this Penn State Football team.

Penn State Football Punter/Kicker – Jordan Stout

Jordan Stout has been brilliant at kickoffs and punts so far this season, and he won Big Ten special teams player of the week in week one.

As a punter, Stout currently has 14 punts for an average of 52.2 yards. He has done a great job at giving the Penn State Football defense the best possible starting field position, especially at times against Wisconsin when the offense could not buy a first down.

Stout has also done a great job kicking off, not allowing a single return so far through the first three games. This is an underrated stat, because it does not allow for opposing teams to get a big return for a touchdown or to get good starting field position.

Hopefully for the remainder of the season, Stout is kicking the ball off much more, and we don’t see much of him as a punter.
