Penn State Football Reason for Optimism – Passing Game

In their Week 1 matchup against Western Illinois, Ball State gave up 367 passing yards. Western Illinois top wide receiver finished with 12 catches for 237 yards and two touchdowns. So, Jahan Dotson may be able to have a field day against this Ball State secondary.

Even Ball State does sell out to try to stop Dotson, Penn State has plenty of other talented receivers for Sean Clifford to get the ball to through the air.

Penn State’s offensive line should have an easier time in pass protection to give Clifford time to make throws than they did last week. Ball State’s front seven is not nearly as talented as Wisconsin’s is.

This should be a great game for Sean Clifford to really find his rhythm, and for Jahan Dotson to put up big numbers to help him with personal goals. More importantly, Penn State having the ability to push the ball downfield through the air with ease this season should give them the chance to win this game comfortably.
