I jumped around in Wisconsin, and it was a tad overrated | Penn State

Penn State Football’s victory over Wisconsin was just part of the spectacle, as college football fans were back in Camp Randall Stadium for the first time in nearly two years

MADISON, Wisc. — Penn State made a successful business trip to Madison, bringing home the 16-10 victory of the #12 Wisconsin Badgers.

But for many Nittany Lions fans, Madison isn’t a location we often get to visit.

Penn State last visited Wisconsin in 2013, as huge underdogs, and upset the potentially BCS bound Badgers 31-24. Obviously, most fans remember the 2016 B1G Championship win, but that was a neutral site game in Indianapolis.

So, what is a visit to America’s Dairyland like for Penn State Football fans?

The Drive

It. Is. Far.

There’s no way around it. At the edge of reasonable driving distance (and perhaps that’s even pushing it), it took us 12 hours from State College to downtown Madison. You have to earn it if you want to drive there.

Fortunately, it’s flat as heck once you get past Pittsburgh, and I highly recommend stopping at Culver’s at least once on the way.

Night Before the Game

Seeing a college campus in the heart of a state’s capitol is a unique scene; imagine Penn State playing in Harrisburg.

The Madison Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association hosted a mixer featuring giveaways, raffles and signature cocktails. But, the real winner was the dining options; with many tasty eats with reasonable wait times.

It was odd as very few people were on the streets, a very different feel from State College the night before a game.  There wasn’t that buzz you can feel on College or Beaver Avenue.
