Takeaway #3 – The Kicking Situation

Jordan Stout missed both a field goal and an extra point in the second half of the game, and those four point were almost very costly for this Penn State Football team.

In the past two seasons, Jake Pinegar would have been expected to handle both of those kicks. Pinegar also had some struggles early last season, but Stout’s performance today makes you wonder if maybe they have stout doing too much.

The fact that stout has to take care of kickoffs and punts, as well as take care of all of the field goals and extra points, is some reason for concern.

Will James Franklin reconsider and give Jake Pinegar a shot at short field goals and extra points in the coming weeks?

Regardless of who it is, they are going to have to split the uprights. Missing those kicks can be very costly, and in some games down the road on Penn State’s schedule, they cannot afford to be missing out on any sort of points.
