Key Coordinator? – Mike Yurcich (offensive coordinator)

Mike Yurcich will obviously be very important for Penn State Football all season long, but he needs to make sure this offense does not come out flat and have a slow start on Saturday. With this game being an 11:00 AM kickoff local time, this offense cannot wait until the second half to find their groove.

Firstly, Yurcich will need to establish the ground game, and allow his offensive line to impose their will up front. Plus, he will need to call quick, short passes early to get the ball out of Sean Clifford’s hands to get him comfortable and into a rhythm.

He will also need to be smart about when to take a shot offensively. With Sean Clifford’s strong arm, as well as big play threats with Dotson and Parker Washington, this offense certainly is capable of hitting on big plays down the field. If a solid running game is established, that will set up the play-action pass to potentially lead to one of those big plays.

If Mike Yurcich can be creative and smart with his play calling and prove to Penn State Football fans that James Franklin made the right move to bring him aboard, this team has a great chance to come home with a win this weekend.
