Penn State Football Key Player – Tariq Castro-Fields (cornerback)

Tariq Castro-Fields is a veteran who has played a lot of football, and he needs to play that way this season.

With so much experience, Castro-Fields is not a guy who should be getting lost in coverage and giving up those deep touchdown passes that can really hurt a football team. If he can lock down his half of the field, this defense will be very successful.

With so many talented quarterbacks and wide receivers within the conference, Penn State’s cornerbacks need to play well, and who better to have set the tone for that group than Tariq Castro-Fields?

Penn State Football was second in the Big Ten last season in opponents passing yards per game, giving up just under 200 yards per game, despite Castro-Fields missing most of the season. With him back this year, if he plays to his potential, Penn State could have the best pass defense in the Big Ten.

This secondary is already great, especially with Jaquan Brisker at safety. If Penn State’s top cornerback can be as great as I think he can be, this secondary could be elite.
