Nick Singleton is one of the most coveted running backs in the nation, and the Penn State Football class of 2022 commit was absolutely dominant last weekend

Over the course of the high school football season, we will highlight big-time performances by Penn State Football commits. The Nittany Lions’ recruiting class currently ranks first in the nation, and with 24 commits, there are a lot of names to keep an eye on.

With the majority of Penn State commits starting their season this past weekend, there were plenty of performances to pick from. Quarterbacks Beau Pribula and Drew Allar each had big days, Mehki Flowers and Anthony Ivey shined in all facets of the game, but one commit stole the show.

Running back commit Nicholas Singleton got his season season off to a hot start with a 280-yard, five touchdown performance. Singleton and his Governor Mifflin Mustangs made easy work of York High School, throttling them 55-6.

Three of Singleton’s touchdowns were on big plays, as he had scores of 32 yards, 50 yards and 70 yards. His big-play ability was certainty on display. Singleton’s explosiveness, combined with fellow running back commit Kaytron Allen’s power, has the makings of a dangerous 1-2 punch for the Nittany Lions in the future.

A performance like this helps solidify Singleton’s rank as the No. 1 running back in the country, according to 247 Sports.

Singleton is following in the foot steps of Saquon Barkley, Miles Sanders and Journey Brown as running backs who tore up the Pennsylvania high school ranks before heading heading to Happy Valley for college. If he continues at this pace, he may be in the same discussion as those three when talking about the great running backs Penn State has had under James Franklin.

Penn State Football fans should be excited about Singleton, and this entire class, if performances like this become frequent.
