Penn State Football bold prediction No. 2: Sean Clifford Tops McSorley’s Single Season TD Record

In 2016, Trace McSorley set the Penn State Football single season passing touchdown record, connecting on 29 touchdown passes. Sean Clifford is more than capable of breaking that mark this season.

In 2019, Clifford had 23 touchdown passes in about 11 and a half games played. If he stays healthy this season and plays in at least 13 games, he can definitely reach 30 touchdown passes.

This season, Clifford will have a better group of wide receivers to get open and make plays for him than he did in 2019. He will also have a better offensive line to give him time to deliver those passes downfield. Lastly, Clifford will benefit from a better offensive coordinator this season than he did two seasons ago.

Along with some very talented wide receivers to throw to, Brenton Strange and Theo Johnson are two excellent tight ends that Clifford will benefit from as well. They will be big targets for him, both literally and figuratively, in the red zone.

With all of these variables working in Clifford’s favor, there is definitely a good chance Sean Clifford will hold the Penn State Football record for single season passing touchdowns, at the conclusion of this season.
