Penn State Football bold prediction No. 4: Jahan Dotson Wins Biletnikoff Award

For those who don’t know, the Biletnikoff Award is presented to the most outstanding wide receiver in college football throughout the season.

Jahan Dotson is one of the best wide receivers in America, and he has the potential to take home the award in 2021.

Dotson is certainly talented enough to win the Biletnikoff Award, however there are a lot of talented wide receivers in college football this season, which is what makes this such a bold prediction.

Some names in the Big Ten he is competing against are Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson, both from Ohio State, and David Bell from Purdue. Some other names nationally that are his competition for the award include; Justyn Ross (Clemson), Marvin Mims (Oklahoma), and John Metchie III (Alabama).

Last season, Dotson led the Big Ten with 884 receiving yards. He accomplished that on 52 receptions (third in the Big Ten), and also tied for first in the conference with eight touchdown catches.

All of that came with quarterback play that was very bad at times, and during certain stretches of the season where the offense was extremely run-heavy as a result of the quarterback play.

This season, Jahan Dotson can continue to put up big numbers, especially in Mike Yurcich’s new offensive system that is innovative and fast-paced. Former Oklahoma State wide receiver James Washington won the Biletnikoff Award in 2017 with Yurcich as his offensive coordinator. He also has the potential to surpass Allen Robinson’s school record of 1,432 receiving yards in a single season, set in 2013.

If Dotson does that, as well as reaches the end zone at least a dozen times, he very well could find himself as the winner of the Biletnikoff Award this season.

If Dotson wins the award, he would be the second Nittany Lion ever to do so. Bobby Engram won the Biletnikoff award back in 1994, which was the inaugural season for the award.
