Week 2: Penn State Football vs. Ball State

There may not be a more experienced team in the country than Ball State.

The Cardinals went 7-1 last year and won the MAC. They are led by quarterback Drew Plitt who completed 65.6% of his passes with 17 touchdowns last year. Last year’s leading tackler, Brandon Martin will be returning for another season as well. No team has used the NCAA granted extra year of eligibility more than Ball State.

A lot of people are looking at this as a potential upset for the Nittany Lions, especially if PSU does suffer a loss to Wisconsin the week before.

While Ball State may be a tougher test than some other non-power five opponents than Penn State has faced, the fact that is this will be the first time fans will be allowed back in Beaver Stadium in two years. The place will be rocking, and will make things tough on the Ball State offense.

The Cardinals may keep it close early on, but usually the possible upset everyone spends all offseason talking about isn’t the one that happens.
