Former Penn State Football QB Trace McSorley will miss the rest of the Baltimore Ravens’ preseason, following a back injury

Trace McSorley will likley miss the remainder of the NFL preseason to a back injury, according to his coach John Harbaugh.

Initially thought to simply be back spasms from picking up a box, it turned out to be a bit more serious. Harbaugh stated McSorley ‘wrenched it in some way’ and will be out for a few weeks with that situation.

This is an unfortunate development for the former Nittany Lions QB, as preseason snaps can be the difference in making an opening day roster.

As Ravens starter Lamar Jackson has struggled with multiple COVID-19 diagnosises, McSorley had the opportuntiy to see extra snaps this preseason as they slowly worked Jackson back.

McSorley saw the field during the 2020 campaign twice, finishing 3-10 for 90 yards and one touch down.  Known also for his mobility in college, he also ran the ball 5 times for 17 yards.

An undersized quarterback coming out of Happy Valley, Trace was drafted as the 197th pick (6th round, 2019 draft).  McSorley fought for the back-up position last year with former 1st round pick Robert Griffin III, who is likley moving into broadcasting this season.  Behind Trace, and now potentially with the opportunity to take his job, is rookie and former Utah Utes QB Tyler Huntley (along with another rookie out of Monmouth, Kenji Bahar).
