Predicting 2021 Big Ten season: How many wins for Penn State Football?
By Nick Kreiser
After a breakout season in 2019, PJ Fleck’s Golden Gophers fell to 3-4 last year. Minnesota will look to rebound and make a push for double digit wins, though they may fall a little short.
Minnesota opens the season hosting Ohio State on a Thursday night. They may be able to keep it close early, but a far more talented Buckeye team should end up winning that one comfortably.
From there, they have a tricky test week three when they travel west to take on the Colorado Buffaloes from the Pac-12. Looking at their schedule, the Gophers may be sitting in a nice place record and standings wise into November, with (barring a slip up) potentially only one conference loss to that point.
However, Minnesota finishes their schedule with a three game gauntlet. In order, the Gophers are; at Iowa, at Indiana, and home against Wisconsin to close out their regular season schedule.
Led by veteran quarterback Tanner Morgan, expect Minnesota to make these games interesting. Can they steal a win or two throughout their schedule and make a push to win the West? Probably not, but we shall see.
