How will this loaded running back room split the carries this season?

As mentioned earlier, part of this depends on if Cain (or any of these running backs) go down with an injury at any point.

If Cain is healthy, he should see a higher percentage of snaps/touches than anyone else in the group. Followed by Lovett, who brings a lot of experience from is time in the Big 12 conference playing for the Baylor Bears.

Lee saw a bulk of the carries later in the season last year when Cain went down week one, so he should see his chance to try to take over some drives. That leaves Ford and Holmes, who will probably see the lowest percentage of touches among the five, but both are still very talented.

Expect the Lions to go with the hot hand at running back most of the time.

However, there are also some specific situations where a certain guy would make more sense to be in there over another. Third and short and need a bruising running back to push forward for a few yards, who is that guy? Third and long, will they bring in the best pass catching back or the best pass blocking back?

Does one of them see their shot at returning kicks?

If so, that person may not start that drive at running back immediately following their kick return. Lastly, how often does Mike Yurcich run a 2-back set where we would see two of them on the field at once?

The running back group has a good problem. It will benefit them greatly that one or two guys do not have to carry the load, which should keep them fresh and less prone to injury.
