Penn State Football’s No. 2 ranked 2022 recruiting class suffered a setback when Tyreese Ferry decommitted Thursday

Penn State Football suffered a rare decommitment to their 2022 class with the loss of Tyreese Fearbry.

Less than two hour after Penn State Football fans were celebrating the addition of Cristian Driver, Fearbry tweeted that he will no longer be headed to Happy Valley.

Fearbry committed to the Nittany Lions on July 4, making this one of the shorter commitments in recent memory.

This is the first negative outcome for Penn State Football on the recruiting trail in July, as they had been the hottest team in the country in recruiting this month.

His other finalists at the time of his commitment to Penn State Football were Kentucky and Pitt. They figure to be key players in his new recruitment.

Although the 4-star plays a position of need for Penn State-defensive end- there is no reason to panic. Penn State still has their top target in Dani Dennis-Sutton committed and have another 4-star defensive end in the fold in Ken Talley.

Replacing Fearbry also shouldn’t be too hard for James Franklin and his staff. There’s Abdul Carter from the Philadelphia area, who is listed as a linebacker, but has the size to play defensive end. Penn State is hoping to get the 4-star in the fold soon. Commit Keon Wylie is listed as a linebacker for the Nittany Lions, but he has experience playing end in high school.

Despite losing Fearbry, Penn State Football still has the second ranked class in the nation and could be adding to that class soon, with 3-star safety Kevin Winston expected to commit on Saturday.

Fearbry is the second decommit in the 2022 class, joining 4-star tight end Holden Staes back in the Winter.
